Major Requirements
The computer science major consists of 8 courses, starting with COSC 102.聽 Foundational and elective courses at the 200-level prepare students for electives at the 300- and 400-levels.聽The requirements for the major are as follows:
Preparatory Courses
- COSC 101聽-聽Introduction for Computing I and COSC 101L聽or equivalent experience (usually completed in the first year)
Required Courses
- COSC 102聽-聽Introduction for Computing II and COSC 102L聽(completed by the end of the sophomore year)
- COSC 202聽-聽Data Structures and Algorithms and聽COSC 202L聽
- COSC 208聽-聽Introduction to Computer Systems and聽COSC 208L聽
- COSC 290聽-聽Discrete Structures and COSC 290L聽
Electives
- Four COSC courses at the 200, 300 or 400 level聽
GPA Requirement
A minimum GPA of 2.00 in the COSC courses chosen to meet the major requirements is necessary to satisfy the major.
