Professor Alicia Simmons and the Politics of Dissent Featured on Today’s Academic Minute

The Greek Parliament has agreed that the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia – its name for the country to the northwest of Greece since the break-up of Yugoslavia in 1991 – can now be called the Republic of Northern Macedonia.

Four �Ա���Ƶ Alumni instrumental in publishing the most recent National Climate Assessment (NCA) returned to �Ա���Ƶ last week to discuss their findings with students.

When 13 students journeyed across the pond to start their fall 2018 semester abroad in Manchester, few of them had an interest in immigration or the refugee crisis. Once immersed in their classwork, however, they quickly united to stand for human rights in the region.

Leon Panetta, former U.S. secretary of defense and co-founder of the Panetta Institute for Public Policy, will address the �Ա���Ƶ community on Friday, April 5, at 7 p.m. in �Ա���Ƶ Memorial Chapel.

This year, �Ա���Ƶ’s Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration included two weeks of robust programming, Jan. 21–Feb. 1, centered on the theme “Thriving in the Current Times.”

Looking back, I can see an interesting connection between my current life in the Windy City, three months in Sin City, and four years in Hamilton, N.Y.: a propensity for intellectual omnivorism.
