This summer, the Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, N.Y. staged the world premiere of Blue, an opera exploring police brutality in black communities. A pre-show discussion with �Ա���Ƶ professors on topics such as institutionalized racism preceded each of the production’s seven performances, and several of the shows included post-show talkbacks as well.

As major renovations near completion at the Hamilton Movie Theater, two students have capitalized on the downtime to delve into the history of the iconic village landmark and its long-lasting impact as a hub for local entertainment.

A two-day gathering titled Grafters X Change: Branches and Networks brought together �Ա���Ƶ and local community members, eco-artists, and activists to foster creative community resiliency.

April 4–6 marked the campus debut of hybrid media artist Paul Catanese’s avant-garde opera Century of Progress / Sleep. The Ho Tung Visualization Laboratory was transformed for the production.

In the panel discussion “Leading in the Arts,” a group of professionals representing a variety of fields discussed the meaning of leadership in the arts, how they consider their audience and the larger public, and their responsibilities as far as representation. Lynn Schwarzer, professor of art and art history and film and media studies, moderated.

A performance of the opera “Pushed Aside: Reclaiming Gage”, on Matilda Gage’s efforts — alongside those of Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton — for women’s right to vote, made its way to campus.
