Women’s Track and Field Competes at the Pt. Loma Nazarene Invitational

?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = 'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags' />SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – The ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ women’s track and field team traveled to San Diego to participate in the Pt. Loma Nazarene Invitational on spring break.  The Raiders had several impressive performances in the competition.

 

Sophomore Emily Thomson (Billerica, Mass.) finished first in the high jump with a leap of 1.55 meters.  Nolana Quince (Syracuse, N.Y.) came in fourth in the event with a mark of 1.50 meters.  A day earlier, Quince broke the school record in the heptathlon coming in third with 3,688 points.  Thomson followed close behind in fourth with 3,313 points.

 

Freshman Nicole Christoforo (Rockland, Mass.) won the 800 meters in 2:23.80.  Fellow freshman Danielle Whicher (North Reading, Mass.) came in fourth in 2:24.51.  Whicher also competed in the 1500 meters breaking the ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ freshman record and coming in second with a time of 4:47.1.

 

Lia Cross (Skaneateles, N.Y.) also competed in the 1500 meters along with Colleen Rice (Liverpool, N.Y.).  Cross finished seventh in 5:03.4 and Rice took eighth with a time of 5:03.9.  Rice also came in eighth in the 400 hurdles with a mark of 71.78 seconds.

 

Sophomore Lisa Germain (Queensbury, N.Y.) came in third in the 100 meters with a time of 12.75 seconds.  Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick (Royersford, Pa.) was sixth in 13.19 followed by Jen Madden (Troy, N.Y.) in seventh with a mark of 13.29.  Marquita Parsons (Liverpool, N.Y.) also competed in the 100 meters posting a time of 14.39 for 16th place.

 

Germain was seventh in the 200 meters in 27.22 seconds followed by Madden in eighth with a time of 27.44 seconds.  Fitzpatrick rounded out the field for ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ in tenth in 27.81 seconds.

 

Hannah Failing (Deerfield, N.Y.) came in third in the 3000 meters in 10:39.74.  Teammate Emily Tansey (Scituate, Mass.) finished seventh in the event with a time of 11:03.98.

 

The Raider women are back in action on April 3 as they head to College Park, Md. for the Maryland Invitational.
