LEWISBURG, PA. – The ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ men’s track and field team took seventh at the Patriot League Indoor Championship this past weekend at Bucknell. Senior track captain Waldemar Auguscinski (Passaic, N.J.) was the Raider’s lone gold medal winner with a mark of 15.69 meters in the shot put. Auguscinski also finished ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 15.70 meters.
Lucas Meeker (Healsburg, Calif.) was 18th in the weight throw with a mark of 11.19 followed by Stephen Salavantis in 19th with a throw of 10.46 meters. Salvantis was 15th overall in the shot put throwing 12.84 meters while teammate Charles Yalovister threw 13.12 meters for the 14th spot.
Michael Hanlon (Ann Arbor, Mich.) finished 14th in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:14.06. Freshman Andrew Moore (Atlanta, Ga.) turned in a fourth place leap in the long jump with a mark of 6.98 meters. Alden Ellis (Singapore) was 14th with a jump of 6.21 meters. Moore was 11th in the triple jump leaping 12.85 meters and Ellis was 13th with a mark of 12.38 meters.
Senior Ian Hill (West Hartford, Conn.) was eighth in the mile run finishing in 4:32.32 while teammate Scott DeRoo (Elizabethtown, Pa.) finished 13th in 4:29.36. Geoffrey Bean (Oneonta, N.Y.) finished seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 51.38. Donald Boyajian (Clifton Park, N.Y.) finished 16th in 52.68 seconds.
Kyle Barrett (Troy, N.Y.) was ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ’s top-finisher in the 800 meters finishing sixth in 1:57.44. Luke Merkel (Arlington, Va.) was 12th in the field with a time of 1:59.61 and Greg Smith rounded out the competition in 16th with a mark of 2:04.73.
Three competitors took to the track for ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ in the 1,000 meters. John Gillespie (Andover, Mass.) took fifth in 2:33.05. Senior Mike Saunders (Albion, N.Y.) was eighth in 2:33.26 followed by senior Louis DiNuzzo (Loudonville, N.Y.) in 10th in 2:34.81.
In the 3,000 meters, Hanlon crossed the line 19th in 8:48.09. Nate Rosenthal (West Harftford, Conn.) was 23rd in 8:54.30 and Travis Brooks (River Forest, Ill.) clocked a time of 9:07.28 to finish 28th.
The Raiders are back in action next Friday at the Armory Last Chance meet which is set to start at 6 p.m.
