Providence, R.I.- Junior Reed Hagmann (Short Hills, N.J.) and junior Pete Oman (Winchester, Ma.) each brought home singles titles in what proved to be a successful weekend for the 冈本视频 men鈥檚 tennis squad.
Hagmann, now 7-1 in tournament play, took the number one singles title at this weekend鈥檚 Brown Tournament by defeating Brown鈥檚 Zack Pasanen, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 in the finals. Hagmann went 4-0 for the tournament, defeating Tyler Deming of Rutgers in the first round, 3-6, 7-6 (7) and 7-6 (5). Hagmann defeated Andrew Lieu of Princeton in round two by the score of 6-1, 6-2. He advanced to the finals with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 defeat of Adil Shamasdin of Brown. Hagmann also teamed up with freshman Marshall Wheeler (Darien, Conn.) to take fourth in the number one flight of doubles.
Oman, now 6-2 in tournament play, defeated Pawel Wawrzyniak of Manhattan 7-6 (5), 6-2 to win the number six singles tournament. In round one, Oman downed Tim Fuzesi of Princeton, 6-0, 6-1, then took care of Nick Barbera from Rhode Island by the score of 6-3, 6-1. To advance to the finals Oman beat Patriot League foe Dave Collins of Army by the score of 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. Oman also had a successful weekend in doubles play, teaming up with Blake Willmarth (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) to take runner-up un the number three flight of double competition.
Evan Ambrose (Catskill, N.Y.) brought home runner-up honors in the fourth flight singles division. Ambrose took down Ryan Lloyd of Lehigh in round one, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, followed that up with a 7-6 (4), 1-6, 6-3 beating of Harvard鈥檚 Max Tedaldi. Ambrose defeated a second Patriot League opponent in Michael Good of Army, 7-6 (5), 6-0 to advance to the finals. Phil Charm of the host team Brown downed Ambrose 2-6, 1-6. Ambrose currently holds a 6-2 tournament record.
Willmarth battled to a fifth place finish, defeating Blaise Goswami of Princeton in his final match, 6-2, 6-1. After Willmarth lost his second round match to Klim Fedosienko of Manhattan, he bounced back with two straight wins to finish fifth in the number five singles flight.
