John Koegel to Discuss
Mexican-American and Indian Music
at Next ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ Humanities Colloquium

Hamilton – John Koegel will participate in the college’s next Humanities Colloquium Series lecture on Tuesday, April 6. The topic of his talk, which will take place at 4:00 p.m. in the Ho Lecture Room, Lawrence Hall, will be ‘Preserving the Sounds of the ‘Old’ Southwest: Charles Lummis’s Collection of Mexican-American and Indian Music at the Southwest Museum.’
Koegel is assistant professor of music history at the University of Missouri-Columbia. A specialist in the music of the American Southwest and Mexico, he has published a number of articles on these topics in U.S., Mexican, and Spanish journals and dictionaries. He is currently completing a musical edition of songs from nineteenth-century California.
