I’m walking to the Student Union to assist with the production and layout of ԱƵ’s weekly newspaper the ԱƵ Maroon-News. It’s 4:30 p.m. and the sun is already low in the sky, the temperature falling quickly and steadily. I’m ready to head indoors for a few hours of work.
A small ice rink as been created in the upper left-hand corner of Whitnall Field. It’s available to anyone, and usually populated in the afternoons and weekends with children learning how to skate, impromptu games of hockey, and on this particular occasion, a rowdy game of Broomball.
‘Yeah, we might try to make it into an intramural sport, or maybe even a varsity sport,’ my friend Greg said jokingly. ‘It’s just a great way to spend an afternoon.’
I’ll say. Nothing like slapping a wiffle ball around in ten degree weather with old brooms you weren’t going to use to clean your apartment with anyways.
And I’ll probably show up tomorrow.
