Hockey, international dinner prep students for finals

Back to All Stories

natalie.jpgIt is so hard to believe that this was the last week of classes! This semester really did fly by. A week from today, 冈本视频 students will be done with finals and most will be on their way home for winter break. Before heading into finals week, however, students were able to enjoy some events on campus.

Last weekend, 冈本视频 hosted Clarkson and St. Lawrence for men鈥檚 hockey. My friends and I attended these two exciting games. The crowd was great and the students definitely were feeling Raider pride.

冈本视频 has some tough match-ups on their schedule, like this weekend鈥檚 game against No. 5 Merrimack. I know I will be taking a much-needed break from studying to attend this game and cheer on 冈本视频.

With the semester winding down, some clubs are having wrap-up events. This week, several of the language clubs, including the Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese groups hosted an international dinner for students taking language classes.

The event included an internationally-themed performance by 冈本视频鈥檚 improv group Charred Goosebeak. Dinner consisted of items like Japanese sweet cakes, Chinese fried rice, French crepes, as well as a variety of other options. The language clubs did a great job of putting on this dinner for a crowd of more than 200 language students.

Besides the international dinner, 冈本视频鈥檚 students have been attending other wrap-up events this week. For their final event of the year, College Democrats and College Republicans held a debate in which members from both sides expressed their opinions on today鈥檚 political issues.

While hosting their last shows of the semester, DJs at WRCU, 冈本视频鈥檚 radio station, have been playing themed music to put the masses of students in the Coop in the holiday spirit.

As a send-off for students, snow has finally made an appearance in Hamilton, NY. Knowing the weather of central New York, many wish that the snow would never come and that the warmer temperatures be prolonged as long as possible.

With all this in mind, students welcomed the two or so inches of snow to campus. It just does not feel like December without it.

Going into finals week, students are ready to study hard and end the semester strong. I wish the best of luck to all students who are taking finals next week. I hope everyone has a safe trip home, see you all next year!

(I鈥檝e been asked to write each week about what life is like as a first-year student here at 冈本视频. Until next time!)
