Hamptons Shakespeare Festival Brings
The Tempest to ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ

Back to All Stories

HAMILTON ‘ ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ will host a live performance of Shakespeare’s The Tempest by the Hamptons Shakespeare Festival on Wednesday, September 15 at 3:00 p.m. at the Sanford Field House.
The play will be directed by Josh Gladstone, a ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ alumnus and artistic director of the festival, which he founded in 1996.
Students and teachers from local schools, as well as the entire community, are invited to this free theatrical event, performed by a cast of talented young professional actors and musicians. ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ undergraduates in many courses ‘ including English literature, theater, and the liberal arts Core ‘ will be studying the play, but the performance will be accessible to people who have neither read Shakespeare nor ever seen a live play.
This production will be especially musical, with the many songs Shakespeare included in The Tempest set to new tunes by composer David Brandenburg, co-founder of the festival.
The company usually performs in parks near the beaches of Eastern Long Island. Audience members at the ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ performance may choose to sit in the chairs provided, but may prefer to sit on a beach towel near the front of the 3/4 round playing area, for greater intimacy with the action.
With one brief intermission, the performance will last until about 6:30 p.m.
Free tickets are available through the office of Deborah Knuth, associate professor of English, ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ: 315-228-7272.
