Hamilton, NY — The Guild Trio, hailed by the Washington Post for its ‘golden touch,’ will visit ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ to conduct a masterclass on Saturday, April 1 at 4:00 p.m. and a recital on Sunday, April 2 at 3:30 p.m. The recital program will feature Beethoven’s Trio No. 1 in Eb major ‘Ghost’; Peter Knell’s Trio, which Knell composed in 1999 especially for the Guild Trio; and Felix Mendelssohn’s Trio No. 1 in D Minor, Op. 49. Both events, to be held in Memorial Chapel, are free and open to the public.
The national and international performing Guild Trio has evolved into a cultural and educational resource. The group developed a novel artists-in-residence program at the Stony Brook University Medical Center that earned it a matching grant from Chamber Music America in 1991 for the manner in which it fostered a greater sense of community among faculty, students, staff, and patients. The trio also offers an educational series, Illness and Inspiration, as well as Frontiers, a colloquium on creativity in science and art.
