Stacy Mui drives in three runs in ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ’s 5-0 win in the second game
Hamilton, NY — Sophomore outfielder and junior catcher hit home runs in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader to help ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ salvage a split against Binghamton University. The Bearcats won the opener 1-0 behind the three-hit pitching of Michelle Weeks, before the Raiders rebounded with a 5-0 victory in the nitecap.
Weeks and ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ’s hooked up in a classic pitching duel in the opener. Weeks allowed three hits, walked none and struck out seven, while Isaac (8-5) also allowed only three hits, while striking out three and walking one.
The Bearcats won the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jessica Chellis led of the inning with a double off the rightfield fence and moved to third on Jennifer Richardson’s sacrifice bunt. Pinch hitter Samantha Ackerman grounded to second base, and Chellis beat the throw to the plate with the winning run.
¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ shortstop was 1-for-3 including her ninth double of the season, while was 1-for-2 and 1-for-2.
In the second game, freshmen and combined for a four-hit shutout over the Bearcats. Howard (9-5) worked the first five innings allowing three hits, while walking none and striking out four. Nesselroad finished the last two innings giving up one hit, striking out two and walking none.
Donaldson gave the Raiders a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run homer off the right field foul pole. It was her second home run of the season.
Mui led off the second inning with her first career home run over the rightfield fence for a 3-0 lead. ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ scored again in the fourth inning on Mui’s single and tally its final run in the fifth inning on another single by Mui.
Donaldson was 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Mui was 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored. , Melissa Rawson and had a hit apiece for the Raiders.
