The Native American Arts and Culture Festival will once again be held at Sanford Field House.

This Saturday, October 18, 冈本视频 will host the annual Native American Arts and Culture Festival. The celebration of American Indian art, music, and dance will be held inside Sanford Field House from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Live music and dance will be performed during the entirety of the festival. First, Dan Hill (Cayuga) will perform traditional flute music. Then the Onondaga-based troupe Haudenosaunee Singers and Dancers will perform fast-paced smoke dances and traditional Iroquois social dances.

The dancing will continue with Destiny Sampson performing a Plains-style hoop dance, followed by another troupe of dancers and musicians, Ayazamana, performing traditional Ecuadorian dances and masquerades.

The Martha Redbone Roots Project, which is being presented in partnership with the Earlville Opera House, will perform its blend of Native American musical traditions with blues and Appalachian folk.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to sample and purchase a variety of traditional foods.  Iroquois corn soup, chili, sweet fry bread, strawberry drink, and made-to-order Indian tacos are some of the foods that will be available.

Artists and vendors will be leading craft demonstrations during the festival, and handmade items will be available for purchase at the craft market.

All are invited to attend and admission is free. For more information please contact Carol Ann Lorenz at (315) 228-7184, clorenz@colgate.edu, or Brian Smith at (315) 228-6643, bdsmith@colgate.edu.
