¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ Earns First Ever Victory Over Cornell in 3-0 Win

HAMILTON, N.Y.– The ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ women’s hockey team accomplished something on Saturday that it has never done, beat Cornell.  A 22 save shut-out by Rebecca Lahar and a game-winning goal by Carly McNaughton in the second period allowed the Raiders to earn their 12th win of the season.

McNaughton scored her fourth goal of the season at 16:24 from Cheryl Setchell to give ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ a 1-0 advantage in the second period.

¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ added two insurance goals in the third period in empty net fashion.  Caitlin Hornyak scored at 19:19 of the third, followed closely by Kara Bachman who scored with just nine seconds left in the game.  Allison Paiano assisted on Bachman’s goal.

 Cornell outshot ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ 22-19 and went 0-1 on the power play, while the Raiders also went 0-1 on the power play.

 Rebecca Lahar made 22 saves in recording her fourth shut-out of the season and third in ECAC play.  She now has seven career shut-outs. 

¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ now 12-17-1 and 4-9-1 in the ECAC, moved back into sixth place with nine points, one point ahead of Yale.

¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ wraps up the regular season next weekend when Brown and Harvard come to town.  ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ and Brown play Friday night at 7 p.m.
