to Perform at ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ

Hamilton – ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ’s Family Weekend will feature a performance by Belarussian-born pianist Andrey Ponochevny on Sunday, September 26 at 3:30 p.m. in the ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ Memorial Chapel. Ponochevny, 21 years old, is the winner of the 1998 William Kappell International Piano Competition, as well as numerous other competition prizes worldwide. He received his first honor as a pianist at age ten, when he was awarded the First Prize at the International Contest of Music Lycees in Riga.This fine young pianist will perform a program of all-Chopin works: Polonaise No. 5, Op. 44; Sonata No. 3, Op. 58 and the Twenty-Four Preludes, Op. 28. This performance is one of only three opportunities in the United States to hear this virtuoso player during the fall of 1999 and, best of all, this performance is free and open to the public.
Ponochevny will also run a master class on Saturday, September 25, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., to which auditors are welcome. Speakers of Russian are particularly welcome in order to help Ponochevny feel at home.
