The 16th annual , featuring a week of intensive workshops in the writing of fiction, non-fiction prose, and poetry, will take place June 19-25. A number of well-known writers will serve as faculty for the event, which draws both published and aspiring writers to discuss their writing, work on pieces, and attend readings.
The conference also allows the public to attend a wealth of readings and craft talks and time to mingle with the writers at no charge.
“This is a great opportunity for members of the Hamilton community and the region to see writers in their various modes of working, teaching, and thinking,” said Peter Balakian, Donald M. and Constance H. Rebar Professor in humanities. “The morning craft talks and the evening readings are open to everyone.”
Included in the faculty of esteemed writers are a number of ԱƵ professors and graduates: Peter Balakian, New York Times bestseller (poetry); Greg Ames, assistant professor of English (fiction); Jennifer Brice, associate professor of English and associate director of the University Press (non-fiction); Jennifer Pooley ’07, has edited books that have made the American Booksellers Association’s “Next Indie List” (fiction and non-fiction); Jasmine Bailey ’05, O’Connor Fellow in creative writing (poetry); and Jennifer Smith ’03, senior editor at Ballantine, Random House (writes young adult fiction).
