Call for Research Council Major Grant and Scholarly Leave Proposals

Back to Provost and Dean of the Faculty Announcements

Dear Colleagues,

I am glad to extend an invitation to all tenure-track and tenured faculty members to apply for Research Council Major Grants and Scholarly Leaves for the academic year 2024–25. These grants and leaves provide support for your research and scholarly projects at any stage.

Please note that we have updated the guidelines to simplify the application process. The narrative length for proposals is now limited to 1000 words, and the requirement of external funding applications for scholarly leaves has been eliminated to simplify your application process. Please review our updated guidelines thoroughly, as they contain other essential changes.

Some Important Information About Major Grants and Scholarly Leaves

  • Major Grants (up to $8,000 for Research Council major grants and $12,000 for Picker Fellowships) are designed to cover expenses such as travel, lodging, materials, and supplies. • Major Grants are offered to any tenure-track or tenured faculty across all University divisions. Scholarly Leaves are available to associate or senior faculty.
  • Major Grants are available for a period of 15 months, from June 1, 2024, to August 31, 2025. SLA credits can be applied to fall 2014 or spring 2015.
  • Please submit your application to me at aay@colgate.edu by 5 p.m. on Jan. 26, 2024.
